Gratitude To and From

Blessed with Volunteers

At the Madonna School we are blessed to have many volunteers help in a wide variety of areas. From assisting in the classrooms to the kitchen, from working with the students individually to promoting the mission in the community, the Madonna School and Workshop meets the needs of its students and clients with the help of valuable volunteers.

There are also many special events, like the Golf Classic and the Celebration Event, that require volunteers to spend many hours preparing and promoting in order to raise the funds necessary for the mission: empowering with education the Madonna School students and adults.

“There are two kinds of gratitude: The sudden kind we feel for what we receive, and the larger kind we feel for what we give.” --Edward Arlington Robinson

Not surprisingly, there is often feedback from our volunteers about how grateful they are to the Madonna staff and students as well.

reflections from Madonnapalooza and what's next...

Mary Kay and I attended the Madonnpalooza event last Friday. Wow! What a wonderful opportunity for Madonna students and their families to enjoy and evening of food, music and great fun. Seeing the kids on stage with the band was heartwarming - so much energy and joy for life. Some of them I have known for years – what progress they have made. Watching the parents and family members take pride in these young people reminded us of those moments we shared with our children as they grew. What a difference Madonna School makes in the lives of special young people.

We need to make sure these growth opportunities continue so I asked you to get involved by supporting the Working Wonders event coming in August. I know what a difference this fundraiser makes in the lives of these special children. Please help Mary Kay and me and all those who are working to make this event a success. Whether you help sell a few raffle tickets or donate an auction item or help invite people to attend, your contribution will benefit many who need your help. Please consider joining us in Working Wonders by contacting me directly. You can also call Jay or Toody at the school for more information.

Thank you and may God bless you and your family.

Nobody Can Do Everything

“Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something.”  A person can stumble over a great many quotes on the world -wide- web.  This quote is most commonly attributed to –unknown. Perhaps it is said by unknown because it is what we like to call “common sense.”  Which, to quote another unknown, is not as common as one would hope.
But I digress.  To the point of the matter, “everyone can do something” is our opportunity to say that there is something you can do, too.  The Madonna School Celebration is an entertaining and important event. We hope to raise over 25% of the school’s budget via this platform.
The celebration committee is already in motion and we are looking for more members of the community to help us reach out to sponsors and donors.  We are in need of organized, positive communicators to be a part of the committee.
If you are interested in joining our team of Celebration volunteers, please contact Jay Dunlap, at the school or Mardra Sikora, committee chair.  There’s always reason to celebrate!
