Gratitude To and From

Blessed with Volunteers

At the Madonna School we are blessed to have many volunteers help in a wide variety of areas. From assisting in the classrooms to the kitchen, from working with the students individually to promoting the mission in the community, the Madonna School and Workshop meets the needs of its students and clients with the help of valuable volunteers.

There are also many special events, like the Golf Classic and the Celebration Event, that require volunteers to spend many hours preparing and promoting in order to raise the funds necessary for the mission: empowering with education the Madonna School students and adults.

“There are two kinds of gratitude: The sudden kind we feel for what we receive, and the larger kind we feel for what we give.” --Edward Arlington Robinson

Not surprisingly, there is often feedback from our volunteers about how grateful they are to the Madonna staff and students as well.

One example came from a Creighton Prep Student Volunteer in the last school year:

Thank you for welcoming us to your lovely school and allowing us to work with your wonderful kids. Madonna School opened my eyes and I realized what I was doing was going to be meaningful and have purpose. You have some amazing kids there that changed me. Thank you for everything. This helped shape our lives.

And this is from a letter to the Madonna school from a Creighton Medical School Course Director:

I am writing to you to thank you for your openness and generosity in contributing to the education of Creighton second-year medical students while welcoming them to the Madonna School last month. Since a great deal of the medical education in the first two years of medical school takes place in classrooms, the students were enthused and grateful to learn about the innovative teaching methods being utilized with these young people in the community and to understand how well they are flourishing in a great learning environment. Our students will, I hope, be more inspired to learn from knowledgeable and caring persons like yourself who serve your gentle and sensitive students with compassion and great skill. Many thanks to you from me, and from our Creighton M2 medical students!

It is through partnerships like these that the Madonna School not only helps its students but also contributes to the greater good of the community.
